Greenville Builds Character Through Water Awareness

On Monday, April 9th, the Greenville High School in conjunction with professional learning communities kicked off the water challenge. This challenge is to raise money and awareness for the lack of access to clean drinking water globally. Each Grade level is competing for bragging rights in raising money to help build wells in rural parts of Africa through the water project organization (thewaterproject.org). Students will donate the money they would have spent on drinks to the water project, foregoing the sweet taste of sugary drinks for the sweet feeling of helping others. This challenge will culminate in an earth activity in which students learn about different careers that are related to our environment. So far the Freshmen are ahead with 73 dollars, followed by 23 dollars raised by the senior class, and 13 dollars by the juniors, and lastly are the sophomores with 5 dollars.
