It seems spring is not completely ready to visit Upstate New York. For the next week or so, winter will continue to delay the blue skies and warm temperatures. New York is not the only state being affected. Across North America there have been unusually cold temperature patterns; especially for this far into April. Why are we experiencing this bitter weather? Your answer is a stubborn mass of warm air over the North Atlantic that has barricaded the normal flow of air from reaching its normal destination. This warm air mass has changed the direction of the Jet Stream, bringing forth an abundance of cold air down from the Arctic. By the looks of it, Mother Nature will continue to leave spring on hold until the last week of April.
